Academics & Conduct

  • CURRICULUM

All teachings of 8th Street Academy are rooted in Christian values and beliefs.

Our Christ-centered curriculum encourages students to grow academically and develop a strong Biblical worldview.

Our core curriculum includes Bible, language arts, math, science, history, music, and physical education.

  • BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS

8th Street Academy operates in a God-honoring atmosphere of respect, safety, encouragement, accepting responsibility, and commitment to grow.

Students must come to class on time and be properly prepared with textbooks, completed homework, and writing materials.

Each teacher will establish specific rules of conduct, expectations, and response in their classrooms. All teachers are to be appropriately addressed as Mr., Mrs., Miss.

  • CONFERENCES

Parent-Teacher Conferences are offered twice a year.

Teachers use conference time to review a student’s progress, strengths, and work areas.

Parents are encouraged to share insights about their child that can benefit the teacher and their child’s education. Each conference lasts for 15-20 minutes.

  • DRESS CODE

Dress for school should be age-appropriate, neat, clean, modest, and free of inappropriate words or graphics.

For safety reasons, flip-flops are discouraged and high heels are not recommended.

We encourage you to send a jacket or sweater on cool days for outdoor play.

Elementary students should wear or bring appropriate athletic-type shoes for PE each day.

our values

WE INSPIRE STUDENTS TO BECOME ROOTED IN GOD, with identities secured in knowing both who they are, and whose they are.

WE EMPOWER STUDENTS WITH TOOLS FOR LIFE, providing them with exemplary academics to discover and develop their own unique interests through curiosity, wonder, and perseverance.

WE DEVELOP STUDENTS WITH RELATIONAL DEPTH, students who thrive in their friendships and community, cultivating empathy, compassion, and grace for others.

WE CULTIVATE STUDENTS WITH CHARACTER TO THRIVE, developing confidence, resilience, optimism, and an “I can” attitude.
