EARLY EDUCATION TEACHER
POSITION SUMMARY
An Early Education Teacher at 8th Street Academy creates a nurturing, faith-based learning environment that promotes students' academic, social, and spiritual growth. Our early education program includes half-day Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten. This role involves planning and delivering instruction aligned with the school’s mission, fostering a well-managed classroom, and building strong partnerships with students, parents, and staff to support a collaborative and engaging learning experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction & Classroom Management
Create and follow daily lesson plans aligned with curriculum objectives.
Implement diverse teaching strategies for whole-class, small-group, and individual instruction.
Maintain a structured, engaging, and faith-centered classroom environment.
Utilize positive classroom management techniques to foster student success.
Maintain student records, including attendance, academic progress, and behavioral documentation.
Communicate student progress regularly with parents via Renweb and other channels.
School & Community Engagement
Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional development, and department planning.
Maintain ongoing communication with parents, keeping them informed of student progress and classroom activities.
Support school-wide initiatives, assemblies, and events.
Supervise volunteers, aides, and apprentice teachers, providing guidance and support.
Submit curriculum orders and manage classroom resources effectively.
Administrative & Operational Duties
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
Complete student accident/incident reports as needed.
Follow and uphold all emergency and school safety procedures.
Adhere to dress code and professional appearance expectations.
Spiritual Responsibilities
Profess and model Christian faith, adhering to the school’s Statement of Faith.
Regularly attend a Bible-believing church and uphold Christian values in and out of school.
Serve as a role model for students and staff in faith and character.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Agreement with and commitment to the mission, values, and faith-based philosophy of 8th Street Academy.
Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and students.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Completion of required CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogen training.
Background check clearance.
Physical ability to stand, sit, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs as needed.
ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS
Attend all staff meetings and professional growth activities, up to two Fridays per month.
Be present 30 minutes before and after class.
Agree to remain after school for meetings that may be called by an Administrator.
Adhere to faculty policies and procedures outlined in the school handbook.
WORK HOURS
Full-Time and Part-Time Positions Available
Preschool or Pre-Kindergarten: Tuesday – Thursday
Kindergarten: Monday – Thursday
Occasional Fridays are designated for staff meetings and professional development.
